BODY FAT PERCENTAGE (BFP)

The body fat percentage is the total weight of the person's fat divided by the person's weight and consists of essential body fat and storage body fat. Essential body fat is necessary to maintain life and reproductive functions.

The body fat percentage for women is greater than that for men, due to the demands of childbearing and other hormonal functions.
Storage body fat consists of fat accumulation in adipose tissue, part of which protects internal organs in the chest and abdomen.
Essential fat is 3%–5% in men, and 8–12% in women.

Soaking Dried Porcini Mushrooms

Dried porcini, as well as shiitakes, oysters, and other dried mushrooms, must be reconstituted before being added to recipe.Soak the porcini in hot tap water ( about 1 cup per ounce of dried mushrooms ) in a small bowl until softened, about 20 minutes. Here's how to make sure any sand or dirt released by the mushrooms doesn't end up in your food. 1.Most of the sand and dirt will fall to the bottom of the bowl, so use a fork to lift the rehydrated mushrooms from the liquid without stirring up the stand. 2.Never discard the flavorful soaking liquid, which can be added to soups, sauces, rice dishes, or pasta sauces.To remove the grit, pour the liquid through a small sieve lined with a single sheet of paper towel and placed over a measuring cup.
